Marijuana Vending Machines
My first experience with a weed vending machine was while on a Cruise ship when we docked in Jamaica. According to High Times, weed vending machines in the US have been available with a valid medical card and driver’s license in some medical states.
The idea of vending machines with age-restricted items, alcohol for instance has been limited, until now, by technology. (I question why this is not so for cigarettes)?
American Green’s “The American Green Machine,” is poised to provide a solution to this problem. A vending machine that uses fingerprint identification technology, an app based security system and a QR code offering a variety of age-restricted items, including marijuana.
“A baseball fan could buy a beer at the game in New York and cannabis from a dispensary in California the next day through the same app utilizing their verified account,” said David Gwyther, chairman and acting president at American Green. “This is a huge step forward for smart retail and the automated sale of regulated products.”
“The adoption of smart phones, familiarity with apps on those phones and improvement in related vending technologies have now merged with a concept that the public could easily grasp before but are much more prepared to use now,” Gwyther noted.
While the demand for legal marijuana is undeniably here, depending on the demand for American Green’s age-restriction technology, “The American Green Machine,” could be coming soon to a store near you.
