  • Industry Background
  • I am a journalist and editor covering the cannabis space. I write about the culture, social justice issues, and bring to light issues happening in the industry that consumers outside our green bubble can't see, but are impacted by.
  • What would you want to tell a first-time cannabis user?
  • Start low and go slow! If you have a joint to smoke, only take one hit and wait 15 minutes before you consume anymore to see if you like how you're feeling. The idea is that you can always get higher if that's what you want. But making yourself come down fast is a whole different beast to tackle. Oh, and if it's your first time consuming, stay away from edibles or anything dipped in wax and covered in kief.
  • What’s a common misconception about cannabis that drives you crazy?
  • Just because you consume cannabis does not make you a lowlife. By itself, it does not negatively impact success. In fact, plant medicine can actually help you dream bigger and achieve more if you use it consciously and with intention. It is a tool, not a crutch, that can help us become the best, most successful versions of ourselves — not lazy dingbat stoners.

  • Industry Background
  • Ryan is a classically trained lunatic. He studied film and digital media at UC Santa Cruz and acting at Howard Fine Acting Studio, Berg Studios, and The Groundlings. Once during the Super Bowl he yelled "Here we go!" as he jumped into a pool with all his clothes on for a Bud Light advertisement that starred a cool little dog. Now he has to yell that every time he wakes up, goes anywhere, or uses the restroom.
  • What would you want to tell a first-time cannabis user?
  • He would like to tell first-time cannabis users that they will never have another chance at their first time, so they better make sure it's with someone they really love.
  • Favorite terpenes or cannabinoids and why?
  • His favorite cannabinoid is doggy style. And why? Because sometimes he takes the joke too far, but he is "the man on the street" after all and can be found at the corner of cannabis and comedy!

  • What’s a common misconception about cannabis that drives you crazy?
  • Many people associate cannabis use with laziness. It's quite ironic, to be honest, because everyone in my circle uses cannabis -- and they're some of the hardest-working people you'll ever meet!
  • Favorite terpenes or cannabinoids and why?
  • THCa, baby! I am so grateful to have the opportunity to explore the world of cannabinoids. Offering all of the benefits that THC have to offer pre-decarboxylation, THCa can be ingested or used topically without getting the user super high. I have SO much to accomplish on the daily that I need to be hyper-focused. THCa & CBD tinctures allow for me to do just that!

  • What’s a common misconception about cannabis that drives you crazy?
  • That it is bad for you! This medicine has been healing people since 10,000 B.C. Have no fear, cannabis can heal!
  • Favorite terpenes or cannabinoids and why?
  • I am an old school Diesel guy... thick and gassy aromas... Phytol and Limonene. Reminds me of when I first started working in cannabis.

  • Industry Background
  • I am an advocate and educator in the cannabis space, with an emphasis on mindful consumption and living a holistic lifestyle. My approach is that education starts at home and so does destigmatization, so it's up to us to be the change that we want to see in this industry.
  • Care to share any cannabis products that changed your life?
  • I have recently crossed over to dry herb vaping to consume my plant medicine, so I am really obsessed with my GHOST MV1 which has technology that I have yet to see matched by any other product in that market. It is a little large, but I like the feel of it and it performs really well, and I get delicious terpy hits every single time. I also could not live without my CBN pen from Mary's Medicinals. For days when CBD just isn't cutting it for my PTSD and social anxiety, this transdermal pen can be applied in microdoses instead of a full dose on my veinous parts of the body, so it's easy and discreet, and won't put me to sleep! (Unless I use a full dose)
  • What’s a common misconception about cannabis that drives you crazy?
  • The misconception that drives me insane is the fact that most people don't think we can be good parents, get our work done and still run a household at the end of the day. I am here to prove to the world you can be an outstanding mother, loving wife and hard working human. It is all possible, and I will show you how!

  • What would you want to tell a first-time cannabis user?
  • First of all you need to be in a chill place with chill people, environment is everything when it comes to doing any kind of substance. Second, you need to know how much you are taking. There is nothing worse than anyone new to cannabis feeling pressured to fit in and consuming too much resulting in a bad experience.
  • Favorite terpenes or cannabinoids and why?
  • A lot of people, stoners included, misconstrue cannabis as a substance that just makes you chill and do nothing. Most of my greatest ideas, inspirations, introspection's and revelations have come from experiences while on cannabis. I don't use it to just get high and chill, I use to expand my mind and body as well as to get in touch with the collective conscious.

  • Industry Background
  • Entertainer/Cannabis Enthusiast turned Hemp Farmer. My relationship with the plant changed from daily recreational use as a way to relax after a long day on set, to actually legitimizing and growing Hemp on our family farm in Alabama. I love and live to spread knowledge on this amazing plant not just the social aspect of it but its ability to make the world a better place! Looking forward to a world that humans are no longer imprisoned for a plant that can actually save the world!
  • What would you want to tell a first-time cannabis user?
  • I would make sure first time users do the research or at least know what they are looking to accomplish from the plant (Pot with a Purpose). THC and CBD would cater to 2 different body needs and some may really enjoy an edible as opposed to smoking flower. I would always recommend being with your own Guru, or someone who is familiar with the multiple uses of the plant and can guarantee quality product and proper use so you get the maxim knowledge and benefits of the amazing plant.
  • What’s a common misconception about cannabis that drives you crazy?
  • For me it’s all the stereotypical stoner generalizations that really grind my gears!

I really don’t like when those who don’t benefit from the plant come with negative generalizations like it makes you lazy or forgetful… If they only knew those are properties for certain strains that weren’t able to be studies when those generalizations were formed… IE If you administer 500mg of Indica Dominant THC to someone at 9am they are definitely more likely to fall asleep and not remember certain things as opposed to giving them an appropriate amount of Sativa or even CBD can be super helpful in accomplishing the days goals. So I make it my “Ganja Goal“ to never be a part of the problem, to always exercise and elevate my mind and body in my practice of cannabis. In small ways like memorizing the product contents or making sure I remember who I Medicate with and where, it's even one of my favorite pre-workouts… simply about knowing the herb and its pros and cons
