The world of marijuana mourns the loss of legendary 'father of medical marijuana & cannabis activist Dennis Peron, who fought to push through Proposition 215 (the Compassionate Use Act) in 1996. He saw how patients suffering from AIDS and cancer were alleviated by the therapeutic effects of marijuana. In a 2016 interview by The Eureka Times-Standard, Peron said, “In 1996, it was like a dark room had been left for so long without any light. I let a little light in. A light of compassion, hope and empowerment…We empowered the patients and the voters and the people that don’t believe marijuana is a crime.”
He is deeply missed.
